Authorities Disrupt Alleged ISIS-Linked Attack Planned for 'Pumpkin Day' |
DETROIT—In a decisive operation, the FBI arrested five individuals from Dearborn and Inkster, Michigan, on Friday, effectively dismantling an alleged plot to execute a terrorist attack over the Halloween weekend.
According to FBI Director Kash Patel, the suspects were planning a violent act, referring to Halloween as "pumpkin day."
Federal agents conducted raids in the greater Detroit area, including a residence near Fordson High School in Dearborn, where evidence was collected.
While the specific targets and timing of the planned attack remain unclear, officials confirmed that the group had access to firearms and were under surveillance to prevent any immediate threat to public safety.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed gratitude for the swift action of the FBI and state police, emphasizing the importance of protecting residents.
These arrests underscore ongoing concerns about domestic terrorism and the influence of extremist ideologies within local communities.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the suspects' plans and any potential connections to international terrorist organizations. |
