ICE Activity Triggers Shelter-in-Place at Clarkston Schools |
Law enforcement search prompts precautionary measures in local district |
On Wednesday morning, the Clarkston Community Schools district implemented a shelter-in-place protocol following Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the area.
According to district communications, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office informed school officials that ICE agents were searching for two individuals near Sashabaw Road and Clarkston Road.
In response, all school buildings restricted movement, keeping students and staff indoors while classes continued as usual.
The shelter-in-place was lifted later that morning after law enforcement concluded their search.
Superintendent Shawn Ryan emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains the district's top priority.
He assured parents that such measures are standard protocol during nearby police activity.
As of now, the individuals sought by ICE have not been located.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
