Whitefish Point, Michigan, marks the notorious entry to the “Graveyard of the Great Lakes,” where over 200 shipwrecks cluster near the Upper Peninsula’s rugged shores.

Among these sunken vessels, the legend of the SS Comet stands out. Built in 1857, this 181-foot propeller ship collided with the steamer Manitoba in 1875 and sank quickly, taking 70 tons of Montana silver ore—cargo now valued at more than $30 million—to the lake bed.

Whitefish Point’s underwater “boneyard” includes wrecks like the Nucleus and Western Reserve, rumored to hide fortunes in ore, steel, and even lost payroll gold.

But Lake Superior’s icy depths and Michigan law have kept these treasures out of reach.

The true prize may be the haunting, well-preserved stories lying silent beneath those frigid waters.

Small monthly investments in fractional gold and silver are gaining popularity among local savers seeking lasting financial security.

Fractional metals offer a practical and approachable entry point, making it possible to start with limited funds and build a tangible portfolio over time.

Diversifying across 1/10 oz gold coins, single-ounce silver rounds, or even small platinum options lets buyers practice dollar-cost averaging, which naturally reduces risk during market volatility.

Unlike large bars, smaller pieces are easy to sell or use during unexpected expenses, providing flexible liquidity when it’s needed most.

Converting savings into hard assets like gold and silver also safeguards against inflation, protecting purchasing power as currencies lose value.

Plus, the satisfaction of holding real metal often sparks better saving habits compared to digital-only accounts.

Steady, fractional additions can quietly build real wealth—and peace of mind—for families and individuals across our community.
